First Day of my Year of Writing!

Hello!

Well, sticking true to my promise to my fabulously wonderful reading class, I wrote a slightly more detailed version of part of a futuristic novel I've always wanted to write. I wrote part of it out live in class under the document camera, but I added a bit more detail to this version. I wanted to try and get the pictures from my mind onto paper so that the reader could see the same images. I welcome any suggestions, and I'm excited - ALTHOUGH DEFINITELY NERVOUS - to have people viewing my work. Please follow/cut and paste the Google Documents link to read and comment on the opening of my story:

Writing journal: hard to get started. I busied myself with other stuff and got distracted by the slightest noise, but once I got going, I found I couldn't stop. I could see the pictures in my mind more clearly. My inner critic got noisy half way through with its usual message: boring. I was enjoying writing so I chose to ignore it. I'll listen when I want to revise and make changes. For now, it was just important that I got something down on paper.
